Programme for September 2018 to May 2019

The society meets most Tuesdays from the beginning of September to the end of April. The only break is for two weeks at Christmas.

New members are always welcome simply turn up on the night or contact the club via our contact page.

4th Welcome Evening – Project “That’s Life” & Wine/Nibbles
11th Presenter: Matt Parry on “Travel Photography – Building a Portfolio”.  Matt began his interest in photography in 2008 and has since had his work published in several magazines including National Geographic Traveller UK, Lonely Planet Traveller, Thomas Cook Travel (In-flight magazine),  Amateur Photographer, Practical Photography and Digital Photographer to name but a few.  You can see some of his work by visiting his website at
18th Monthly Club Competition – PDI’s and Prints.
25th Presenter: Andrew Marland on “Mechanical Landscapes”. Andrew is an Engineer by profession with very little formal artistic training, or so he would lead us to believe. His thought-provoking talk is approximately 90 minutes and is a wander through the remnants of the northern industrial landscape.  Further information about his work may be found on his website at

9th Monthly Club Competition – PDI’s and Prints (mono only).
16th L&CPU – Print Portfolio A (Interactive Judging)
23rd Presenter: Gary Jones “From Mountains to the Sea”.  A wildlife presentation by a full time Wildlife Photographer, based in the North West close to the beauty and ruggedness of the Welsh Coast and Snowdonia. Gary’s work including portfolio can be seen by visiting
30th The Alan Mitchell Trophy Project Competition – Triptych (printed Triptchs only)

November 2018

6th L&CPU – Print Portfolio C (Interactive Judging)
13th Presenter: Mark Helliwell “An approach to Landscape Photography”.  Mark is a semi-professional landscape photographer who lives in Macclesfield, on the western edge of the Peak District.

His work has been recognised in several regional, national and international competitions. In 2011, he won the Sunday Telegraph winter photography competition, in 2013 won the Macclesfield Barnaby festival photography competition, and in 2014 runner up in the international Amateur Photographer of the Year competition.
